Judicial seats are on the ballot again this year. And that means voters will be looking for information about candidates. Information is usually hard to come by for judicial races. Especially meaningful information.
Judicial plebiscites are an important way attorneys can help. Plebiscites are being held to identify preferences of bar members for the state-wide and Hennepin County contested races. Perhaps other plebiscites will be held for races in greater Minnesota as well. The plebiscites are an important way attorneys can weigh in.
Ballots for the appellate seats have been sent to Minnesota Bar Association (“MSBA”) members eligible to vote in the appellate plebiscite. Members of three sections are eligible to vote in that one: the Civil Litigation, Criminal Law, and Appellate Practice Sections of the MSBA. Members of these three sections who have not voted yet should receive one additional reminder before voting closes at 6 pm on Tuesday, September 16.
The Hennepin County Bar Association plebiscite is open for voting by all members of the association, and focuses on the four contested Fourth District judicial seats. Voting for those races will close on Friday, September 19.
The ballot information provided to members includes background materials submitted by the candidates.
Watch your in-box and be sure to weigh in before the deadlines.
