Springboard for the Arts (“S4TA”) has been around a long time. It is a great resource for Minnesota artists and a good place for Minnesota lawyers interested in helping in our arts community.

S4TA is hosting a CLE this week (July 11) in downtown Minneapolis, 12:00 – 4:30 pm, followed by Business Law Society Happy Hour, with a San Francisco lawyer, Nancy E. McGlamery, who currently serves as Secretary of the Nonprofit Organizations Committee of the Business Law Section of the State Bar of California and emeritus Prof. Daniel S. Kleinberger of William Mitchell School of Law on fiscal sponsorship and Minnesota’s new nonprofit LLC.

(“Fiscal sponsorship,” as I understand it is “the practice of non-profit organizations offering their legal and tax-exempt status to groups engaged in activities related to the organization’s missions. It typically involves a fee-based contractual arrangement between a project and an established non-profits.” In other words, fiscal sponsorship involves “win-win” collaborations with and between non-profit groups.)
