States have long had laws that prevent opportunistic pricing in times of natural disaster or laws that address particularly vulnerable groups.

In these challenging times, the Minnesota legislature has addressed the risk that some might seek to exploit those in the dire circumstances of foreclosure.

Today brings news of the Minnesota AG’s office seeking to enforce those laws and seeking to protect Minnesota home-owners in foreclosure from those who seek to profit from those circumstances. The Minnesota AG’s office brought similar actions within the past six months.

It is clear that there is a value and a benefit to professional help and consultation for homeowners in the midst of foreclosure, but equally clear that some may jump into this “commercial opportunity” without proper training or, perhaps, without scruples.
